Catherine L. (Hoover) Shaffer

York—Catherine L. (Hoover) Shaffer, 91, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at York Lutheran Home at Sprenkle Drive. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Shaffer. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A viewing will be from 9-10 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born December 19, 1923 in York, she was a daughter of the late Ira A. and Esta E. (Mundis) Hoover. She was employed with Standard Register Company for 18 years as a collator operator until her retirement in 1971. A life member of the W. York V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary, she was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church in York, the Viking Athletic Assoc. and Shiloh American Legion. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and gardening. Mrs. Shaffer is survived by five grandchildren, Robert A Copenheaver II, David A. Copenheaver, Barry E. Copenheaver, Kimberly A. Beck and Colonel H. Copenheaver; seven great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert A. Copenheaver and Barry A. Copenheaver; one brother, Herman H. Hoover and two sisters, Thelma E. Jenkins and Dorothy F. Givens.
