Catherine 'Jeanne' Higgins Mattison

POTTSVILLE-Catherine “Jeanne” Higgins Mattison, of Pottsville, resident of York Terrace Nursing Home, Pottsville, passed away Wednesday morning at the nursing home. She was born in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Patrick and Anna Meier Higgins. Jeanne graduated from Pottsville Catholic High School and was a graduate of Notre Dame College, Baltimore, MD. She was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Mattison, who passed away in 1965; her two sisters, Gertrude Higgins Dunkel and Nan Higgins Buckley. She is survived by her niece, Anne Buckley McGovern, wife of Donald, of Pottsville; her great niece, Mary McGovern al-Sharif, wife of Abdul Majid al-Sharif, of Houston, TX; her three great nephews, Donald McGovern, Jr., of Lake Wynonah, David McGovern, of Pottsville and Robert McGovern, husband of Suzanne, of Pottsville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Patrick’s Church, Pottsville. There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, next to her husband. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Hillside SPCA, Hillside Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.
