Catherine E. (Pinkerton) Koontz

YORK Catherine E. (Pinkerton) Koontz, 93, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Country Meadows at Leaders Heights. She was the wife of the late Russell M. Koontz, Sr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with her grandson, The Rev. Timothy Overmiller officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born March 6, 1918 in York a daughter of the late Edward H. and Ida Jane (Hummer) Pinkerton, she was a waitress at the Yorktowne Hotel for 30 years. Prior to working at the Yorktowne, she had worked at Dentsply Inc., and Stauffer Biscuit Co. Mrs. Koontz was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church on Belvidere Ave., and the ladies auxiliary for F.O.P. White Rose Lodge 15. She loved her family and cherished her friends. Mrs. Koontz is survived by a daughter, Janet M. and husband Lamar Overmiller of Dallastown; a son, Russell M. Koontz, Jr. of Long Neck, DE; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grand children; and 12 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Rick Koontz; and a brother, Edward H. Pinkerton, Jr.
