Lock Haven - Catherine A. Probst Simparosa, 78, passed away at her residence on Friday, May 28, 2010. She was born on March 8, 1932 in Lock Haven to the late Amelia Baysore and Charles E. "Jim" Eyer. She was the step daughter of Roy Zerby. Catherine attended Lock Haven High School. During her high school years she was a drum majorette in the Flemington Drum and Bugle Corp. Her hobbies included going for walks, doing word searches, playing bingo, going to camp in Little Italee in North Bend and spending time with her family. One of her favorite things to do was decorate for every holiday. She was a waitress at several eating establishments and worked at the K mart eatery for many years. Catherine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 25 years to James L. Simparosa. She was the mother of seven sons: Fred Probst of Frenchville, Harvey (Kim Probst of Lock Haven, Randy (Vonda ) Probst of Somerset, Harry "Mooch" Probst of Westport, Rob (Karen) Probst of Summerson Mountain and Rick (Ada) Probst of Mackeyville. Two daughters, Deborah (Robert) Probst Clarke of Ephrata and Brenda Probst Frear of Williamsport. Catherine was preceded in death by one son, Hilary O. Probst and one daughter, Tammy M. Probst. 6 stepchildren also survive her. Daniel (Jean) Probst of Trout Run, Herbert Probst Jr. of Little Italy, Ruby (John) Probst Schmidt of Fleetwood, and Linda Butler of DuBois, Carol Witherite of Bellefonte and James L. Simperosa, Jr., of McAlevys Fort, PA Catherine is also survived by three brothers. Harry Zerby of McElhattan, Richard Zerby of North Bend, and Chester Zerby of Towanda. One brother, Leroy "Sonny" Zerby of Jersey Shore, preceded her in death. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive her. A memorial service will be held 7:00 P.M., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo with the Rev. Robert Pickering officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
