Cassandra Mae "Sandy" Gessner

YORK HAVEN- Cassandra Mae “Sandy” (Witmer) Gessner, 68, of Newberry Township, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at her residence. She was the wife of Dennis Paul Gessner. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on April 19, 2023.

Sandy was born in York on May 8, 1955, a daughter of the late Preston and Audra (Kline) Witmer. She worked as a nurse’s aide for 42 years at Camp Hill Care Center, where she was known to always take great care of the patients.

Sandy was a member of Summerdale United Methodist Church in Summerdale, PA. She was a graduate of Red Land High School. She enjoyed collecting many things, including antiques and Longaberger baskets, making chicken corn soup, reading, and spending time at Trevorton Camp.

Along with her husband, she leaves two sons, Adam Paul Gessner and Eric Preston Gessner; a granddaughter, Addison Marie Gessner; three brothers, Paul Witmer, Preston Witmer, and Pernell Witmer; and two sisters, Audra Cochran and Mary Witmer. She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Witmer.

Services will be private. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc. 305 West Front Street, in Lewisberry is assisting the family with the arrangements.
