YORK- Carroll G. “Bim” Overmiller, 93, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the York Lutheran Home. He was the husband of the late Vivian E. (Grove) Overmiller, who passed away on September 12, 1986. Visitations will be on Friday March 16th from 6-8pm, and on Saturday March 17th from 9-10am at the funeral home. The memorial service will be on Saturday at 10 am. at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl, Red Lion with the Reverend James VanZandt and the Reverend Leroy Doverspike officiating. Burial will be in the Red Lion Cemetery. Born on August 19, 1918 in North Hopewell Twp., Bim was the youngest son of the late Daniel E. and Jennie M. (Grove) Overmiller. Bim was employed as a grinder at New Era Die Co. until his retirement. In his younger years he worked on the family farm in Felton. Bim was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Red Lion for 50 years and a passionate deer and groundhog hunter for 75 years. One of his favorite hunting experiences was following dogs chasing the rabbits. He was a lifetime member of both the Windsor Fish and Game and the Red Lion Highmount Hunting Club in Renova. Bim enjoyed sports and was an avid Orioles and Penn State Football fan. He enjoyed gardening and took pride in his tomatoes. Bim was well cared for by the staff of Victorian Villa for two years and York Lutheran Village in his last month. He was visited by many friends and family - enjoying their visits, driving in the countryside, eating crab and becoming a regular at Lion’s Pride. Bim is survived by a daughter, Karen L. Neier and her husband, Thomas of Palo Alto, CA; two grandsons, Garrett and his wife Tara of Santa Cruz, CA and Christopher and his wife Bobbi of Newbury Park, CA; two sisters, Mary Kocher and Lois Flinchbaugh both of York; three great-grandchildren: Ashley, Terry and Madison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a close friend Marie Warner; six brothers: Dale, Paul, Harold, Guy, Percy and Marvin; and two sisters: Betty Runkle and Estella Hannigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
