MILTON - Carrie I. (Johnson) Bastian, 87, died on Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Kramm Health Care Center, Milton. Carrie was born in Milton on November 25, 1921 and was a daughter of the late William S. and Anna Martha (Renninger) Johnson. She had graduated from the Milton Area High School. Carrie was married to the late George H. Bastian, Sr., who had died in 1990 and was married for 49 years before his death. She was a former employee of American Home Foods, retiring in 1984. After retiring, she had cooked at the Milton Moose. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Milton, the women of ELCA, Milton Moose and the Milton Chapter of AARP. She had volunteered at the Milton Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Evangelical Hospital Auxiliary. Carrie loved her extended family of 5 years at Kramms Health Care in Milton and enjoyed participating in the many activities they offered the residents. Before that time, she was a resident of Watsontown and prior to that, she lived at Mahoning Manor in Milton. Carrie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; George H. and Doreen Bastian, Jr. of Branford, CT, three daughters and sons-in-law; Sandra L. and Fred Hoffman of Limestoneville, Dorothy L. and Danny Rodgers of Union, SC and Judy A. and Jerry Showers of Milton, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, three brothers; William S. Johnson, Jr. of South Emmaus, Larry Johnson of Brookhaven and Robert "Bob" Johnson of North Carolina and two sisters; Ruth Russell of Sinnamahoning and Faye A. Pepperman of Camp Hill. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Kenneth and Harold Johnson and one sister; Donna M. Marshall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in memory of Carrie be made to the Milton Chapter of the Red Cross, the Christ Lutheran Church of Milton or to the Chapter 910 of the Women of the Moose of Milton. A celebration of Life Service for Carrie will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Christ Lutheran Church, Mahoning Manor, Milton, with the Reverend Patricia Pittsnogle officiating. There will be a gathering of friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Church. The arrangements are being handled by the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847.
