Carrie A. (Heffner) Gilbert

YORK Carrie A. (Heffner) Gilbert, 83, died at 2:10 pm Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John H. Gilbert who died May 12, 1998. Following cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gilbert was born September 5, 1930, in Oberlin, Dauphin County. She was a daughter of the late Ralph and Glenda (Stephenson) Heffner. Over the years, Mrs. Gilbert worked at the former Wolf Brothers, Delta Packaging and Yorktowne Cabinets, among other area businesses. She was a member of Bethlehem (Stonepile) United Methodist Church and also attended Springvale United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and especially loved to work in her flower gardens. She also enjoyed spoiling her dogs. Mrs. Gilbert is survived by two sons, Randy E. Gilbert and wife, Cindy and Rodney A. Gilbert and wife, Yanets, all of Red Lion; her daughter, Sandi L. Sipe and husband, Richard of York; five grandchildren, Angie Smith, Lanny Gardner, Sydney A. Gilbert, Randy Gilbert, Jr. and Candy Gilbert; six great grandchildren; a brother, Samuel J. Heffner of Lancaster; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny R. Gilbert and a brother, Larry Heffner.
