Carolyn M. (Forlorn) Kruckmeyer

DOVER – Carolyn M. (Forlorn) Kruckmeyer, 68, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of George J. Kruckmeyer, to whom she was married 40 years. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 2 PM at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Carolyn was born July 24, 1942 in Hoboken, Nj, a daughter of the late Edward Furlong and Madeline Faul. She worked as a barmaid most of her life, bartending in Hudson County, NJ. During her time bartending, Carolyn was not only a friend, but a means of support for her customers. She was the woman to whom people came to for advice, helping many of them through very difficult times. Carolyn was a very caring, strong woman who insisted in only seeing the good in people. Carolyn was extremely skilled in crocheting, knitting, crafts and sewing, having an exceptional eye and skill for home decorating. She was also extremely handy and was the one to turn to if you needed something fixed, mended, or remodeled. She was a modern and extremely stylish woman who could make friends anywhere she went. Her son and husband put it best by saying Carolyn “never met a stranger”. Family was very important to Carolyn and she always put them first. She had an especially close relationship with her husband George. The two of them grew together throughout their forty years of marriage, becoming extremely close and each other’s best friend. In addition to her husband, Carolyn is survived by a son, George J. Kruckmeyer and wife Marina of Phillipsburg, NJ; two daughters, Michelle Ducey and husband Greg of Florham, NJ and Kim Huddleston and husband Anthony of Ridgefield Park, NJ; three grandchildren, Nicholas Ducey, and Rosina and A.J. Huddleston; one brother, James Furlong; one sister Nancy Forlorn; sister-in-laws Marlene Pokojny and Phyllis Paluch, with whom she was very close; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister-in-laws, Linda Borngesser and Kathy Robinson. The family would like to thank the MED/SURG intensive care unit team at York Hospital for their compassion and help through this difficult time. In gratitude and memory of Carolyn, a memorial contribution may be made to York Hospital, Attn: Intensive Care Unit, 1001 South George Street, York, PA 17403.
