Carolyn J. (Smith) Rehmeyer

YORK- Carolyn J. (Smith) Rehmeyer, 73, died on Monday, July 28, 2014 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Robert L. Rehmeyer. The couple wed on April 16, 1960. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born on October 3, 1940 in York, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. and Jennie L. (Thomas) Smith. Carolyn was a Registered Nurse at York Hospital, where she worked in the NICU for 21 years until her retirement. Mrs. Rehmeyer was a member of St. Peter’s (Lischey’s) U.C.C. She was also a member of the Susquehanna Valley Association of Neonatal Nurses. Carolyn enjoyed traveling, flea markets, car shows, fishing, cooking and camping at Chincoteague Island. Along with her husband, Robert, Carolyn is survived by two sons, Ben Rehmeyer of Spring Grove and Jay Rehmeyer and his wife, Penny of East Berlin; three daughters, Jeanette Wooleyhand and her husband, Robert Wayne of Chincoteague Island, VA, Elizabeth Rehmeyer of Shreveport, LA and Cathleen Heikes of Thomasville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and five sisters, Glenda Smith and her husband, William of Glen Rock, Marlene Dubbs and her husband, Ed of Spring Grove, Janice Miller and her husband, Fred of Hampstead, MD, Bonnie Kuhn and her husband, Dave of Hanover and Phyllis Baugher and her husband, Raymond of Shrewsbury.
