Carolyn E. Sharp

Carolyn E. Sharp, 83, passed away following a valiant fight from a brief illness Saturday, January 30, 2021 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John S. Sharp, Jr. A Private Celebration of Life Tribute will be held at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Burial will be held in Mount Rose Cemetery. Born February 4, 1937 in Seven Valleys, she was a daughter of the late Clair N. and Romaine E. (Trout) Greenplate. Carolyn was a loving and dedicated homemaker. She devoted her life to her family; her son and grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nanner”, were her world. She readily volunteered her time to those who needed and appreciated her loving and patient nature. The world was lucky to have her, and she will be greatly missed. She loved sewing and was known for her Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, which have homes all over the country. She crocheted dish towels by the dozens. Her Christmas cookies were a work of art, and it brought her great joy to deliver trays to those she loved. She was also talented at knitting and candy making. Carolyn greatly enjoyed traveling the east coast with her family; she spent countless summers on the Eastern Shore and enjoyed boating and fishing. She was a volunteer at the United Auto Workers Union Hall—Local 1872, worked events at Covenco catering, and was previously an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Sharp is survived by her son, Robert O. Sharp and wife, Nancy of York; three grandchildren, Jacelyn M. Loughman and husband, Brian of York, Nicole S. Sharp of Deerfield Beach, FL and Justin R. Gillman of Dover; two great grandchildren, Eoin and Giana Loughman; one brother, Preston Greenplate and wife, Patti of York; one sister, Sandra Cercel of York; two sister-in-laws, Darlyn Greenplate of Spring Grove and Janet Greenplate of York; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda K. Sharp; two brothers, Leon and Lamar Greenplate and brother-in-law, Paul Cercel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 235 St. Charles Way, Suite 250, York, PA 17402. Send Condolences at HeffnerCare.com CLICK HERE TO SEND FLOWERS
