Carole Frantz Alexy

Carole Frantz Alexy, 72, of Carlisle, PA died peacefully at home December 10, 2017. She was born in Sellersville, Pennsylvania in 1945 to Alfred W. Frantz, who met her Scottish mother Anne Smith Frantz in Great Britain during World War II. She is survived by her partner of 37 years Morgan Plant, who became her spouse in May 2014; son Christopher A. Alexy of Higganum, CT; granddaughter Emerson Trinity Alexy; and sisters Beverly Frantz (Charles R. Moyer) and Sheila Frantz Gross; as well as nieces Elizabeth Moyer and Jennifer Gross Martindale and nephew Jeffrey Gross. An avid reader who loved to travel, Carole was noted for her dry wit. She devoted over 40 years of her life to advocating for and helping victims of domestic violence and their families. Carole was the Executive Director of A Woman’s Place in Doylestown, PA in the mid 1970s, and for 34 years managed state and federal contracts for Pennsylvania’s 60 domestic violence programs for the PA Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) in Harrisburg. She was loved, admired and respected by her many friends and colleagues for her steadying influence, ability to solve problems and help domestic violence programs navigate the shoals of bureaucracy to keep the focus on serving victims safely and effectively. She was awarded the Woman of Courage Award in recognition of her work by the Lutheran Settlement House in Philadelphia in May, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Allenberry Resort, 1599 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, PA with a reception immediately following the memorial service.
