Carlos E. Schade

York—Carlos Eugene Schade, 77, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 after battling lung cancer for 3 years with his wife of 52 years, Martina Schade at his side. Mr. Schade was born August 17th in Lebanon, the son of the late Charles E. and Anna Schade. He graduated from Lebanon High and received a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Guidance & Counseling from Shippensburg University. Mr. Schade taught fifth grade in the Northeastern & Dover School Districts and was the head Guidance Counselor at the Dover Intermediate School for 28 years. He retired in 1996 with 35 years in education. He was a lifetime member of PSEAR and an honorary lifetime member of the PA Counseling Assoc. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he previously served as church school superintendent, Deacon, Elder and member of the choir. He had also sung with the Zion Lutheran Church and the York Ecumenical Choral Society. In addition to his wife, Mr. Schade is also survived by one daughter, Beth Dermota of E. Berlin; two granddaughters, Hailey and Kendyl Dermota of E. Berlin; one brother, K. Bernard Schade of Marshall’s Creek. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Stauffer. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 32 W. Market St., York with his pastor, the Rev. Dr. Larry D. Covin Jr., officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM, Saturday, at the church. Burial will be held in Cedar Hill, Lebanon Co. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge arrangements.
