EAST BERLIN Carlos A. Drayden, 48, passed into eternal life on Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013, at his home. A service to celebrate his life will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Elder Judy Ritter-Dickson of Fairview FGBC officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Friday at the chapel. Carlos was born February 19, 1965, in York. He was the son of the late Sheila F. Drayden-Toal and the late John Louis Awkward. He was employed as a plumber with Bortner Brothers where he worked for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Buffalo Soldiers Cavalry Scouts Motorcycle Club for over 12 years and recently earned his “Lifer” patch. He was also featured in Twistin Magazine for his copper wire motorcycle art work. Carlos loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his life companion, Debbie Nell; his stepfather, Shanon R. Toal; two daughters, Cortney Drayden and Jasmine Johnson; two sons, Cory Drayden and Sincer Carter; two aunts, Tonya Drayden and Sheree Drayden; two uncles, Phillip Drayden and Maurice Drayden; three grandchildren, Cazmir Drayden, Christopher Bello, Jr., and Kacious Jabarri King; three sisters, Jammida Drayden, Michele Walker and Tammy Scott; four brothers, Robin Conaway, John Awkward, Jr., Brian Awkward and Christopher Awkward; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by an aunt, Lorraine Drayden; uncles Cyrus Drayden and Greg Drayden; and a sister, Bernadean Walker. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
