RED LION- Carl L. Hamm, 86, of Windsor Township, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024 at Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of Betty L. (Buecker) Hamm. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary June 14, 2023.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at New Harmony Presbyterian Church, 2295 Delta Rd. in Brogue, with a visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The Reverend Kristine Hileman will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in New Harmony Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place in Red lion is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mr. Hamm was born in Brodbecks on October 1, 1937, a son of the late George and Mary (Lehigh) Hamm. He was a 1955 graduate of Eichelberger High School in Hanover. He graduated from Elizabethtown College where he earned a Bachelors in Science degree. He began his career as a math teacher at Dallastown Area Schools. While teaching, he met his wife Betty, who was a French teacher. After 16 years as a teacher, he began a new career in real estate sales and they began acquiring rental properties. He also enjoyed traveling and the couple visited Canada, Alaska, and much of the eastern USA. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable gardens and was an avid Phillies fan. He enjoyed visiting Florida every Spring to watch Phillies Spring Training. He was a member and an Elder at New Harmony Presbyterian Church.
Along with his wife, Mr. Hamm leaves three daughters, Christina L. Weiner and her husband Michael of Bethlehem, Lisa Ann Hamm of Baltimore, and Cynthia S. Jackson and her husband Jason of Havertown; and a grandson, Devin Weiner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Sterling Hamm.
