Carl J. Rosh

Red Lion—Carl J. “Pappy” Rosh, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Thelma M. (Olewiler) Rosh. A Celebration of Life Service will be 4PM, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with Rev. Bonnie Whittier, Chaplain at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home officiating. A viewing will be held from 2-4PM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born December 17, 1925 in Chanceford Twp., he was a son of the late Charles H.F. and Vergie J. (Cooper) Rosh. He was employed as a fire man with Glen-Gery Brick Corp for 30 plus years until his retirement. Following his retirement he worked as a flagman with the Barnes Group for 17 years. In addition to his careers he also farmed for most of his life. A life member of the Susquehanna Fish & Game, Williams Grove Steam Engine Assoc and the Steam-O-Rama, he was also a member of the Pleasureville American Legion-Post 799. He was an avid hunter, spent several hours each day walking and visiting with friends at the York Galleria Mall and was incredibly dedicated to fundraisers for the local fire companies. Mr. Rosh is survived by three daughters, Shirley M. Leland and husband, Stewart of York, Brenda M. Noye of New Jersey (formerly of York) and Gloria E. Livingston and husband, Dennis of Dover; one son, Steven E. Rosh of Harrisburg; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry L. Rosh; one daughter, Carolyn Bixler Brown and 4 brothers and 1 sister.
