Carl E. Neidlinger, 80, of Herndon, formerly of Good Spring, died Saturday morning at his home. Born in Llewellyn on August 16, 1926, he was a son of the late George and Buleah Leininger Neidlinger. He was a veteran of the Army as a member of the 762nd Military Police Battalion. Serving his country during WWII, he received a Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon and a Victory Ribbon. On April 13, 1945, he married the former Bernice Lavenburg, who survives. He was self employed as a coal miner and also worked for Penn Dye and Finishing Co. He was a avid hunter and fisher, and was a former race car driver. Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years are: two sons, Carl Jr, and his wife Nancy of Good Spring, and Edmund and his wife Beth, of Pine Grove; three daughters, Denise and her husband John Koperna Sr, of Herndon, Kathryn and her husband Charles Wenrich, of Tower City and Muriel and her husband Mike Matter, of Tower City; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a granddaughter Dawn Neidlinger, who died in 1990, a brother George Neidlinger and a sister Muriel Young. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville. The Rev. Paul Hornberger will officiate. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday night from 7-9 PM and Thursday morning from 10-11. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
