Carl E. Eyster

YORK Carl E. Eyster, 90, died at 7 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2007, at ManorCare Health Services - Dallastown. He was the husband of Hilda V. (Cummings) Eyster who died July 14, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Margie Smith, a Chaplain with Heartland Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Mr. Eyster was born June 26, 1916, in West York. He was the son of the late Arthur J. and Virgie J. (Bahn) Eyster. He retired on November 17, 1978, after 36 years as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and received the Asiatic - Pacific Theatre Service Medal. He was a member of the Pleasureville American Legion Post, the Hawks Club, the Victory and Girard Athletic Associations, and the McSherrystown Moose Lodge. Mr. Eyster was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine I. Eyster; and a brother, Lawrence Eyster. He leaves nieces and nephews.
