Red Lion—Carl E. “Cotz” Ferree, Jr., 89, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at St. John’s United Church of Christ 161 N. Main St., Red Lion with his pastor, the Rev. David Tietje officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-8PM, Friday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Masonic Rites will be provided by Red Lion Lodge 649 Free & Accepted Masons, Friday at 7PM. Burial will held in Red Lion Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Dallastown American Legion Honor Guard. Born May 3, 1927 in Red Lion, he was the son of the late Carl E. Ferree, Sr., and Maggie A. (Sipe) Ferree. He was a 1945 graduate of Red Lion High School. Throughout his working career he was employed by various local companies including Hanna Cleaners, Gem Candy and Novelty, North Industrial Chemicals and Teledyne McKay. Following his retirement he was employed as a part-time associate with Heffner Funeral Homes, Inc., for several years. A United States Navy Veteran of World War II, he was also a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ for 50 years, Red Lion Lodge 649 Free & Accepted Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Red Lion Elks Club where he was the Past District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler, Dallastown American Legion, Victory Athletic Assoc., and Hawks Gunning Club. Mr. Ferree is survived by a step-son, Kurt E. Feltenberger of York; partner, Janet M. (Taylor) Seitz of Dallastown and a nephew, David “Chip” Feltenberger. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 161 N. Main Street, Red Lion, Pa 17356.
