Dover - Carl E. Boyer, 82, died Friday, November 14, 2008 at Manor Care-North in York. He was the husband of Jean E. (Starry) Boyer with whom he spent 22 years. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at St. Jacob's Union Cemetery, 99 E. George Street, York New Salem, with her pastor, The Rev. Lisa A. Hair officiating. Full military rites will be provided for by the York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Boyer was born May 5, 1926 in Seven Valleys, the son of the late Kervin D. and Valeria (Markle) Boyer. He was a graduate of William Penn High School. Mr. Boyer was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his country during WWII. He was a former employee of Green's Dairy for over 40 years until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Boyer was a life member of St. Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church in York New Salem. He was a member of West York VFW #8951, Shiloh American Legion #0791, Viking Club, Western York County Democratic Club, and AARP #2812 of Hanover. Mr. Boyer enjoyed spending his free time golfing and bowling. In addition to his wife, Mr. Boyer is survived by five sons, Michael R. Boyer and wife Jody of York, DeWaine J. Boyer and wife Tina of Red Lion, Duane L. King of Pagosa Springs, Co., Bret W. King and wife Jill of New Oxford, and Kevin E. King and wife Jackie of Fort Collins Co.; a daughter, Karen D. Lawrence and husband Ben of Hanover; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Riley; two brothers, Paul A. Boyer, and Richard W. Boyer; and a sister Elizabeth Chronister. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99. E. George St., York new Salem, PA, 17371, or to ManorCare Health Services, 1770 Barley Rd, York, PA, 17408.
