CHANCEFORD TWP- Carl C. Pickel, 88, of Felton, passed away at York Hospital at 3:30 pm Friday, September 19, 2008. He was the loving husband of the late Edna R. (Glackin) Pickel, who passed away in 1997. A Funeral Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Chanceford Alliance Church, 2142 Furnace Rd., Felton with the Rev. Edward Wible officiating. Rev. Peter M. Beddia of Bethel United Methodist, Felton will be assisting. A viewing will be from 6 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with a Masonic Service at 9:00 p.m. provided by the Red Lion Lodge #649. An additional viewing time will be from 9 to 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery, Felton. Carl was born in East Lampeter Twp. on March 1, 1920, a son of the late Ray A. and Mabel (Carpenter) Pickel. He was a self employed farmer and owned a trucking business. He had been a member of Bethel United Methodist since 1940 and attended Sunday school. Carl was also a member of New Bridgeville Fire Co. and a charter member of Airville Fire Co. He was a member of the F.&A.M., Red Lion Lodge #649 for over 50 years, a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Scottish Rite, the Harrisburg Consistory, the National League of Masons Square Club, and the Order of DeMolay. Carl leaves a son, Daniel R. Pickel and his wife Brenda of Felton; a daughter, Cynthia R. Druck and her husband Emory of New Bridgeville; two grandchildren, Angela R. Pickel of Chambersburg and Ronald E. Druck and his wife Rosella of Red Lion; two great grandchildren, RaeGina Fogle and her husband Scott of York and Robert Druck of Red Lion; two great great grandchildren, Hailee and Chyenne Fogle of York; and a brother, Ross C. Pickel and his wife Dorcas of Red Lion. Also surviving are an aunt,two nieces and two nephews. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Earl C. and Gerald C. Pickel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association- Great Rivers Affiliate York County, 140 Roosevelt Ave., Ste. 208, York, PA 17401 or the Bethel United Methodist Endowment Fund, 1674 Furnace Rd., Brogue, PA 17309.
