Calvin A. Tofts

TROY- Calvin A. Tofts, 86, of Troy, PA, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Troy Community Hospital. He was the loving husband of Sandra (LaForme) Tofts. The couple married September 15, 1980 and had 30 happy years together. "PA", as known by his family, loved and enjoyed family gatherings and was proud of all his grandchildren's activities and accomplishments. Calvin was born on October 30, 1924 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Edgar and Minnie (Lau) Tofts. He was a U.S. Army veteran. After moving to Troy in 1950 and farming for 30 years, he then established his own excavating business. Calvin was a member of the Leona United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #49 in Troy. He enjoyed hunting, deep-sea fishing, and watching Jeff Gordon in NASCAR races. Calvin is survived by his wife Sandra, his children: Curt (Candice) Tofts, Deb (David) LeVan, Randy (Kathleen) Tofts, Judy (Ken) Bloom, Jackie Wisniewski, Julie (Brian) Griner, and Chris (Jenny) Page. His grandchildren: Robert Tofts, Kristine Tofts, Michelle Harkness, Ryan Estep, Jason LeVan, Jordan Loftus, Josh Loftus, Ashley Bloom, Zachary Wisniewski, Paige Wisniewski, Bethani Griner, Mikayla Griner, Devin Page, and Macey Page, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law Edgar & Florence Tofts. The family will be having a private memorial service. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Troy, 160 Canton Street, Troy, PA for a time of food, fellowship, and a time to share memories of Cal. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
