YORK – C. Kenneth Parrish, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Manor Care – Elizabethtown. He was the husband of the late Ortha Y. (Bortner) Parrish. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday April 27, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with The Rev. Richard B. Starr officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born October 6, 1916 in Baltimore, MD a son of the late Russell S. and Mildred (Trabert) Parrish, he had retired from Purolator Armored Inc., formerly Protective Motor Services after more than 30 years of service as an armored car driver. Mr. Parrish was a member of the American Legion and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hametown. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he enjoyed fishing and crabbing at the shore, working in his garden, and completing carpentry projects. Mr. Parrish was a US Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Parrish is survived by a daughter, Alyce Y. and husband Robert Goldberg of Mansfield Center, Conn.; a son, Gregory K. and wife Janelle Parrish of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Parrish, David and Scott Goldberg, and Sarah Farrell; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Parrish of Hellam and Curtis Parrish of York New Salem. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Elmer Parrish. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Lion Senior Center, c/o Meal on Wheels, 20C Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA 17356.
