YORK, PA – Burrill C. Porter, 77, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Anita L. (Cardona) Porter to whom he was married for 33 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street, Dallastown, PA with his priest, The Rev. Mark E. Weiss officiating. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Church. Full military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard immediately following the Funeral Mass. A Burial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in East Harrisburg Cemetery, 2260 Herr Street, Harrisburg. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA is in charge of arrangements. Born March 31, 1942 in Penbrook, Dauphin Co., the son of the late Burrill A. and Alma (Clay) Porter, he was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School, a 1964 graduate of Gettysburg College and retired from Blue Cross. Mr. Porter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dallastown and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing fantasy baseball, adopting cats from the SPCA and had a vast knowledge of trivia which he displayed while playing Trivial Pursuit and watching Jeopardy. For many years, Mr. Porter was a successful professional bridge player and member of ACBL, York and Harrisburg Bridge Clubs. He was a US Army veteran of The Vietnam War where he served in the Signal Corps and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. In addition to his wife, Mr. Porter is survived by five sons, Kenneth F. Porter of Media, PA; John C. Porter of York, PA; Mick H. Williams of New Market, MD; Douglas E. Williams of York, PA; and Darryl S. Williams of Hanover, VA; a daughter, Denise E. Barton of Red Lion, PA; 13 grandchildren; and a great granddaughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
