CONEWAGO TWP. - Bruce R. Patterson, Sr., 79, of York, died Friday, October 17, 2008 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mary A. (Ruby) Patterson. The couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on February 19, 2008. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. His pastor, The Reverend Gordon "Skip" Bowen will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in Felton. Mr. Patterson was born in North Hopewell Township on March 4, 1929, a son of the late Preston A. and Annabelle (Eppley) Patterson. He retired from Moyco Industries in York. Mr. Patterson was a member of Mt. Washington U.B. Church in Zion's View. He had a love for flowers and enjoyed gardening with his wife. Mr. Patterson leaves, a son, Bruce R. Patterson, Jr. and his wife Dot of Lancaster; two daughters: Norma P. Hoover and her husband Ken of York, and Susan M. Shiffer and her husband Jim of York; four grandchildren: Cheri and Bryce West, and Jason and Kevin Shiffer; two step grandchildren: Lynn Hoover and Brian Crumlich; three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; two brothers: Royce E. Patterson and Gerald R. Patterson, both of Red Lion and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a step granddaughter, Jolene Donelan and her fianc窠Kevin Smith.
