Bruce M. Oberlander

YORK – Bruce M. Oberlander, 82, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Inza K. (Sipe) Oberlander to whom he was married 58 years. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 at Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Oelrich officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 AM at the church. Burial will be private at the request of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Oberlander was born on August 7, 1929 in York. He was a son of the late Michael L. and Kathryn A. (Urich) Oberlander. He worked for various companies throughout his life, working the longest for Medusa Cement Co. as a foreman and Mercury Electronics in the maintenance department. He retired in 1981. Mr. Oberlander was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in York. He was also a member of Devers Lions Club, Golden Age Club, Hawks Sporting Club, V.F.W. Post #8951 and AARP. Mr. Oberlander proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his wife, Mr. Oberlander is survived by a son, Mark L. Oberlander and wife Bonnie of York; two grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Taylor of Dover; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Drew M. Oberlander and a brother Howard L. Oberlander. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ, 509 Pacific Ave., York, PA 17404.
