Britt M. Kerns

Quarryville - Britt M. (Lundin) Kerns, 90, formerly of York, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Dr. Robert L. Kerns.

Britt was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 11, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Alvar and Ingeborg (Johansson) Lundin. She immigrated to the United States in 1963.

Britt was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in York, where she was a longtime Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, knitting, and caring for animals. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Britt’s middle child, David, was born with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome, and became her life’s purpose. She lovingly cared for him at home until the death of her husband in 2004 and advocated for him every day until his passing in 2021.

Britt leaves a son, Thomas R. Kerns of York; a daughter, Anne K. Harnish and her husband Chad of Strasburg; and five grandchildren, Emily, Aaron, and Anna Kerns, and Adam and Georgia Harnish. She was preceded in death by a son, David Kerns.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave. in York. Pastor Gregory D. Wahlberg will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.
