Bright R. Shreck

LEWISBURG - Bright R. Shreck, 91, passed away peacefully Friday September 29, 2017 at his niece’s home in Winfield, where he resided under her care since June. He was born in Lewisburg on July 14, 1926 and was the son of the late Jacob and Grace (Smith) Shreck. On October 30, 1954 Bright married the late Helen W. (Walter) and were married for 52 years until her death on March 4, 2007. Bright served his country proudly in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was a member of West Milton United Methodist Church for nearly 81 years. Bright served in many different capacities over the years, Adult Sunday School teacher being the most recent. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau. He loved working outdoors, planting and taking care of his vegetable garden, cutting firewood, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family; making ice cream for the 4th of July family gathering hosted at his home for many years. Bright worked on the family farm his entire life and also worked at Milton Steel and retired after 29 years in 1989. Bright is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; David and Linda Shreck of Bealeton, VA, one grandson Bryan Shreck; two great-grandsons Deondre and Jordan McNeil; two sisters-in-law Geraldine Shreck and Mable June Walter along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Bright was preceded in death by one son; Richard Shreck, one grand-daughter; Jamie McNeill and one brother; Robert Shreck. Memorial contributions may be made to Geisinger Home Health Hospice, 100 Academy Drive, Danville, PA 17821 or to West Milton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 51, White Deer, PA 17887. A public viewing will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton and again from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the funeral home. The funeral will start at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend John E. Lee and Pastor Christine C. Mastin officiating. Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, Lewisburg with full military honors.
