Brian B. Laprairie

DOVER—Brian B. LaPrairie, 79, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his residence in Dover Township. He was the husband of Roberta J. (Lentz) LaPrairie to whom he was married for 58 years. A Celebration of Life Tribute will be 3PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Officiating the service will be Brian’s brother-in-law, the Rev. Joseph F. Brady. Brian’s Tribute Service will be webcast live on his obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com. A visitation will be held from 1:30-3PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born March 31, 1942 in York Haven, Brian was a son of the late LaRue D. and Esther P. (Weirich) LaPrairie. Brian graduated from Northeastern High School in 1960 and his first job after graduation was at Lentz Texaco, where he met Roberta. He went on to become a journeyman tool & die maker and worked at several machine shops in York County. He was hired as a supervisor at DuPont/Berg Electronics where he oversaw teams of engineers and machinists for 15 years before leaving to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions as a real estate investor and the founder of LaRue Optical and Prairie Products. An antique car enthusiast and a member of the Blue Moon Cruisers, he also had a passionate interest in motorcycles and enjoyed traveling. Brian had a sharp mind and was known for his math and problem-solving abilities. But more importantly, he was a people person. As a mentor to many and a friend to all, he was generous with his time. Brian never met a stranger, just friends he didn’t know yet. In addition to his wife, Mr. LaPrairie is also survived by one son, Matthew B. LaPrairie and wife, Sarah Todd of Austin, TX; two daughters, Daniele L. Neff and husband, Jere of Wrightsville and Courtney N. Rentzel and husband, Eric of Dover; six grandchildren, Carson Neff and fiancée, Kate Gaudet, Dylan Neff and fiancée, Kathleen Byrne, Aubrey Rentzel, Liam Conner, Aubrey Conner and Ava LaPrairie; two sisters, Beverly (LaPrairie) Shaffer and Lonita (LaPrairie) Brady and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Wendell LaPrairie. Also surviving Brian are his sisters-in-law Frances LaPrairie and Kathleen LaPrairie. Brian is survived by his cousin Toddette (LaPrairie) Holt who held a special place in his heart. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Ministries, 62 N.
