Brent A. Eckert

RED LION - Brent A. Eckert, 38, was taken by the Angels, on Saturday, December 27, 2008. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2008 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion. Pastor Steve Schmuck will be officiating at the service. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Brent was born in York on February 3, 1970, a son of Barbara S. (Ness) Eckert of York and the late Barry L. Eckert, Sr. For the last 16 years he has worked for Packaging Control in York and was self employed as an automobile recycler. He attended Red Lion Bible Church as a child. Brent was an avid stock car racer and received several feature wins at Trail-way Speedway in McSherrystown and was a member of Starlite Ovals Racing Club. Along with his mother Brent leaves four sons: Damien A. Eckert at home, Dustin A. Eckert of South Mountain, PA, Devin A. Eckert at home, and Brandon T. Eckert of Dover; two brothers: Barry L. Eckert, Jr. of Fayette, PA and Brian L. Eckert of York; an ex-wife, Danielle Livingston Eckert of Glen Rock, a fianc裬 Susan Flaharty of Felton, and nieces and nephews. In 1997, Brent made a pledge to send all of his racing winnings to Shriners Pediatric Specialty Center to show his appreciation for his care. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to: Shriners Pediatric Specialty Center, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH, 45229 or Red Lion Bible Church, 105 Springvale Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356. Brent was a hard and dedicated worker, he wanted people to see him not for his appearance, but for whom he was. Respect was all he wanted. He was rough on the outside, but inside beat a heart of gold. He would have asked that no one walk away with heads low and sad for him because he's gone, but to hold your heads high and be proud you knew him. Nothing more can hurt him now!
