York- Brenda Kay (Pullin) Vervaeke, 66, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at UPMC Memorial. She was the loving wife of William W. Vervaeke, to whom she loved for 30 years. Born on August 18, 1954 in Michigan City, Indiana, she was the daughter of William S. and Ida L. (Holden) Reisinger. Brenda is also survived by her two step-daughters, Shannon Carroll and husband, Jason and Ashley Woodring and husband, Brian; four grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jameson Carroll and Reece and Connor Woodring; two sisters, Sandra Cook and husband, Elliot and Rhonda Harbold and husband, Mark; nieces and nephew, Brittany Cook, Rhiannon and Derrek Harbold; aunt, Jeanette Baker and cousins, Londa and Shona Baker. Brenda was a member of the Class of 1972 from Spring Grove Area High School. Brenda worked most of her career in warehouse distribution. She had been a loyal employee of McCrory Stores and Associated Wholesalers, Inc. For the past 12 years, Brenda worked as a paraprofessional in the West York Area School District. She loved working with students and helping them in the library. Brenda celebrated her retirement in December 2020. During her free time, she enjoyed crafting, decorating, and gardening. Brenda had a love of travel. She enjoyed traveling the most with her husband, Bill on their RV and motorcycle trips. She also loved to travel with her Mom to different casinos. She cherished her friends and family. The most special thing to Brenda was that she loved being a “GB” and spending time with her grandkids. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gift of Life Donor Program. In 2012, Brenda needed a kidney to save her life. She was given the most priceless gift from her close friend, Joan Locondro.
