Brenda D. Murphy

MT. WOLF – Brenda D. (Shue) Murphy, 69, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of Stephen M. Murphy to whom she was married for 45 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with her Pastor, The Rev. Laura C. Bair officiating. A viewing will be held from 12-2:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Born April 17, 1945 in Red Lion a daughter of the late John D. and Mabel E. (Holtzapple) Shue, she was a 1963 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Over the years, Mrs. Murphy had worked at Susan’s Flower Barn, Bookland in Manchester, KinderCare, and recently retired from Otterbein U.M. Church Day Care in Mt. Wolf. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, bird watching, tending to her flower garden, and cooking Sunday dinners for her family. She was a member of Starview United Church of Christ. Brenda was also an avid Elvis fan. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Murphy is survived by a daughter, Tammy A. and husband Michael Barlett of Mt. Wolf; a son, Michael S. and wife Kimberly Murphy of York; four grandchildren, Chloe J., Stephen J., and Allison K. Barlett, Clayton M. Murphy; a step granddaughter, Adrianna Colbert; two brothers, Kenneth Shue of East Berlin and James Shue of York; and two sisters, Betty Frey of Dallastown and Shirley Orwig of Mt. Wolf. Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by one sister.
