Red Lion—Blair G. Barshinger, 86, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services—Dallastown. He was the husband of Betty Jane (Ahrens) Barshinger to whom he was married for 66 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11AM, Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave, Red Lion, Pa 17356 with his pastor, the Rev. Timothy A. Funk officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11AM at the church. Burial will be held in Bethlehem (Stonepile) Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born October 8, 1931 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Herbert and Mae (Kessler) Barshinger. He began his 25 year career at the Heil Company in 1965 as production manager during the start up of the Lancaster plant and was appointed assistant plant manager in 1980. A year later he became plant manager until his retirement in 1990. An avid golfer and tennis player, Blair had a hole-in-one on 2 different courses. He was also an active member of his church’s pastor-parish relation committee and superintendent of the Sunday School. A graduate of the Thompson Business School, he was also borough council president, president of the Youth Center board, chairman of the zoning and planning commission and director of the Red Lion Area School Board. Blair was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Red Lion Lions Club, American Legion and the former Red Lion Country Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Barshinger is also survived by his son, Lance A. Barshinger and his husband, David Lynch of Rancho Mirage, CA; three sisters, Fayaline Epply of Oklahoma, Geraldine Erney and Anna Mae Darr, both of Florida and five nieces and nephews, Edward, Nina, Robert, Patsy and Linda. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 3417 Concord Rd, Suite C, York, Pa 17402.
