RED LION - Billy M. Kite, Jr., 60, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Joy L. (Warner) Kite to whom he was married for 37 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, July 12, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Viewings will be held from 5-7:00 PM Sunday and 12:30-1:30 PM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Full Military Rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born February 20, 1950 in Kansas City, MO a son of Laura V. (Snyder) Kite of Red Lion and the late Billy M. Kite, Sr., he was a 1968 graduate of Center High School in Kansas City. Mr. Kite owned and operated Bill's Outdoor Power for 19 years. He was a member of Kansas City Chiefs Fan Club of South Central PA, York Co. Racing Club, and he had participated in the Order of DeMolay. Bill loved being an adventurous person. His many trips to Costa Rica and Belize included snorkeling, traveling on zip lines, and parasailing, highlighted his personality and way of life. Locally, Bill enjoyed skydiving and hot air balloon rides. He had been a racecar driver at Susquehanna and Lincolnway Speedways, enjoyed NASCAR, and had driven a stock car at Dover Downs Speedway. Mr. Kite was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Kite is survived by a daughter, Ginnie L.K. and husband William Rudisill of Red Lion; two sons, Billy M. Kite, III of Windsor and Cory L. Kite of Lamar, PA; a grandson, Tyler Rudisill; a half brother, Donald and wife Ruthie Shenberger of Hagerstown, MD; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Keith A. Kite.
