Billie E. Houseman

YORK- Billie E. Houseman, 88, died on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Karlyn V. (Spanlger) Houseman. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on June 24th. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. York. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on April 25, 1925 in York, he was the son of the late Paul and Grace (Neiman) Houseman. Billie was a machine operator at Allis-Chalmers, formerly S. Morgan Smith Co., for over 34 years until his retirement. Mr. Houseman served our country for over two years in the United States Army during WWII. He served with the 561st F.A.BN. in Europe and earned 5 Bronze Battle Stars on his ETO Ribbon. Mr. Houseman loved to attend WWII events. Earlier on, Billie made authentic to scale Christmas displays for the public to see. He also enjoyed the three trips he made to Hawaii. Along with his wife, Karlyn, Billie is survived by a sister in law, Mary Oerman of York; and extended family, including nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
