DALLASTOWN Mayor Beverly Ann (Haupt) Scott, 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at York Hospital. A celebration of life service will be 11 am on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Reverend Lawrence A. Cunnings and Reverend Curtis R. Weber officiating. Viewings will be Wednesday 5-8 pm and Thursday 10-11 a.m., both at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Mayor Scott was born on June 27, 1941 in York, the daughter of the late William F. and Phyllis M. (Smyser) Haupt. Beverly worked as a Field Operations Coordinator for York International, formerly BorgWarner, for 37 years until her retirement in 2006. She was on the Dallastown Borough Council from 91-95, serving as president in 94-95 and then became Dallastowns first female and longest serving Mayor (1995-2010). Mayor Scott was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown. Beverly co-founded many organizations in Dallastown, specifically the Dallastown Area Historical Society, serving on the board of Directors from 2000-2010, Dallastown Beautification Committee, and Dallastown Outstanding Citizen Committee. Her other Dallastown memberships included, Dallastown American Legion Post 605 Ladies Auxiliary, Dallastown Lions Club, Dallastown EMA, Dallastown Rescue Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Dallastown Recreation Board, Golden Agers of Dallastown, Kids in the Park and the Landmark Town Clock Committee. Mayor Scott wrote the Dallastown Mission Statement. Beverlys other services included York County Boroughs Association, York County Mayors Association, PA State Boroughs Association, PA Association of Mayors, York Area Council of Governments, Alternate for Citizen at Large - York Area Regional Police Commission, Red Lion VFW Auxiliary, York County Republican Club, York County Republican Committeewoman, Co-chair of Mike Waughs Campaign for PA Senate, Co-chair of Todd Platts Campaign for US Congress, Treasurer of Steve Chronisters Campaign for York County Commissioner, Commonwealth of PA Notary Public. Beverly is survived by two daughters, Gina L. Smith of Dallastown and Laura L. Walker and her husband Wayne R. of Rehoboth Beach, DE; one grandson, Corporal Justin Robert Walker, USMC stationed at Miramar Air Station in San Diego, CA and his fianc, Linzy Hamberger. Beverly was a very special person, dedicated to her family, friends and the Dallastown community. Her pride and joy was her only grandchild Justin.
