Betty (Rhody) Strausser

POTTSVILLE - Betty Strausser, 85, of Pottsville died Thursday night at the Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville on December 22, 1925, Betty was a daughter of the late William and Catherine Tritschler Rhody. She was a 1943 graduate of Pottsville High School. On June 24, 1946 she married the late Bertram Strausser, who died Feb 6, 2007. For 60 years of marriage, Betty and Bertram didn’t spend a day apart. Betty was formerly employed as a secretary by the Crippled Children’s Society. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Betty is survived by: two sons, Daniel Strausser and David Strausser, Pottsville; a daughter Debra Terraciano and her husband, Vincent, Pottsville; 13 grandchildren, Michelle Fisher, Melissa Lantz, Chris Strausser, David Strausser, Kristen Strausser, Timothy Strausser, James Pucci, Robert Terraciano, Christopher Terraciano, Austin Terraciano, Jared, Jodi Staller, and Brandon Terraciano; 12 great grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Lantz, Francisco Strausser, McKenna Wychunis, Alyssa Strausser, Jacob Strausser, Brady Strausser, Layla Witzen, James Pucci, Jr, Hunter Pucci, Amanda Staller and Brandi Pucci; a sister Catherine Lang, Pottsville and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband of 60 years, Betty was preceded in death by: two daughters, Betty Ann Fisher and Sandra Pucci; a grandson, Michael Strausser, and a sister Helen Edmonds. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at noon from the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc, 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville. The Rev. Kris Perry will officiate. Family and friends may call from the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Memorial contributions can be made in Betty’s name to the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 305 S. Centre St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
