RED LION- Betty Louise (Heeter) Smith, 87, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 at her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Harvey Lee Smith, who passed away on September 29, 1994. The couple had wed on February 1, 1941. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Pastor Harold "Butch" Snyder officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and 9-10 a.m. on Friday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Windsor Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born on August 12, 1923 in Johnstown, PA, a daughter of the late David and Rachael (Vaughn) Heeter. Betty worked as a Box Stamper for Autocraft Box Corporation until her retirement in 1988. Mrs. Smith was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Windsor. Mrs. Smith was a part of the Ladies Auxiliary at Windsor Fish & Game, the 8th Army Recon Wives, and a Girl Scout leader in Windsor. She volunteered at various schools in Red Lion, Autism York, and AARP. Betty loved playing cards and most importantly loved her family. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Harvey Lee Smith, Jr. and his wife, Gwen of Red Lion; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Oberdick and her husband, Stephen of Three Springs; three grandchildren, Melissa Ann Smith, Angela Lee Place, and Doreen Louise Bish; five great grandchildren, Orin Hagner, Jacklynn Bish, Calvin Alexander Hagner, Jack Bish II, and John Harvey Place; and one sister, Dorothy Rider of York. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Nancy Lee Smith and twins Donna Marie Smith and Bonnie Lou Smith; and three sisters, Mary Freer, Ruth Smith, and Thelma Mumford.
