Betty L. (Hite) Strine

Elizabethtown- Betty L. (Hite) Strine, 47, of Elizabethtown died peacefully Tuesday morning at her home. Betty was born February 2, 1960 in York, a daughter of James D. and Helen (Wompler) Hite. Betty was a hard worker. She was employed with Cracker Barrel in York, Delaware, and Lancaster, Kmart in York, and a school bus driver in Dover. At Cracker Barrel in Lancaster, she won a trip to Hawaii for having the highest sales. She was known to be a fun and encouraging person. She had a take-charge attitude. Betty was active with children's Cub Scouts and baseball teams. She enjoyed the beach. Her grandson, Jansen was her world. Surviving Betty are her mother, Helen Hite of Dover; son, Tony M. Strine and his fianc窠Penni DeHart of Dillsburg; grandson, Jansen M. Strine; former husband, Michael E. Strine of Dover; two brothers, Steven (Mary) Hite and Ira "Butch" Hite, both of Dover; two sisters, Shirley (Michael) Mowrer of York, Romaine "Sis"(Scott) Leber of Weiglestown; two nieces, Vickie (Joel) Townsend, Amanda Mowrer; five nephews, Cody Hite, Leroy Heiner, Curtis Troup, Jeffrey Conley, and Michael Mowrer, Jr.; a great niece, Amber Hite and a great nephew, Zachary Townsend, both of Dover. Her father, James D. Hite, precedes her in death. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held 1pm, Friday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Thomas A. Gilman officiating. A viewing will be 12pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkville Cemetery.
