Betty J. Richter

WELLSBURG, NY - Betty J. Richter, Age 84 of Chemung, NY passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Betty was born in Liberty, PA on August 1, 1928 daughter of the late Clarence and Minnie (Mitstifer) Mathews. She was a graduate of Liberty High School PA. She and George F. Richter celebrated 67 years of marriage on March 19, 2012. Betty was retired from St. Joseph’s Hospital where she worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for many years. She was a past member of the Chemung Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband George F. Richter of Chemung, a daughter Marilyn Richter of Silver Springs, MD, sons, George (Sue) Richter of Chemung, NY, Duane (Terri) Richter of Lockwood, NY, Lynn (Dorothy) Richter of Nichols, NY, a sister Joan Twist of Roaring Branch, PA, brothers, Howard Mathews of Lake Charles, LA, Clarence Mathews of Liberty, PA, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Richter, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her parents, a son Howard Richter, her brother, Robert Mathews and sisters, Catherine Krotzer and Beverly Clemens. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Betty’s service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 12 Noon with Pastor William Wells, visiting pastor of the Maranatha Bible Chapel officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Liberty, PA.
