Betty J. (Miller) Hersey

RED LION - Betty J. (Miller) Hersey, 101, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Richard L. Hersey, together they shared 73 years of marriage.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.


Born August 7, 1921 in Red Lion, Mrs. Hersey was a daughter of the late Robert and Mabel (McGuigan) Miller. Mrs. Hersey was a 1939 graduate from Red Lion High School, and spent many years working for different companies as a secretary, until she retired from the Red Lion Borough office. In her free time, Mrs. Hersey enjoyed camping, cooking, traveling, and spending time at the beach house in Lewes, D.E. Mrs. Hersey was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and great aunt, and will be dearly missed by her family.


Mrs. Hersey is survived by a son, Phil A. Hersey and his wife Cynthia (Myers), of Red Lion; a grandson, Richard A. Hersey, of Red Lion; two great grandchildren, Vivian A. Hersey, and Artur R.L. Hersey; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hersey is preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore Miller, and Roy Miller; and four sisters, Ida Kauffman, Pauline Inkrote, Kathryn Burns, and Selynda Wilt.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
