Betty J. (Knighton) Shaffer

YORK - Betty J. (Knighton) Shaffer, 81, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Bruce E. Shaffer, Sr. Tribute services and burial will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born March 18, 1927 in York a daughter of the late Clair and Anna (Myers) Knighton, she was a member of Shiloh American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Shaffer is survived by a son, Bruce E. Shaffer, Jr. and wife Kathy of Dover; a daughter, Teresa A. Filson and companion Mike Duncan of York; five grandchildren, Steven Hill, April Smith, Samantha Shaffer, and Kyle and Erin Filson; three great grandchildren, Gabriella and Alphonso Tardio, and Kaitlyn Hill; and a sister, Mary Griener of Red Lion. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda A. Witmer; a brother, Clair Knighton; and two sisters, Doris Arnold and Arlene Folkenroth.
