YORK- Betty J. (Heckert) Peters, 97, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Manor Care Kingston Court. Affectionately known as "Nanny," she was the wife of the late Richard L. Peters who died in 2000. The couple had been married for 61 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner, 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Pastor Paul Frank officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Born on July 13, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Esther (Einsig) Heckert. Betty was a secretary at Johnson Controls, formerly Borg-Warner, until her retirement. Mrs. Peters was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Hellam. She loved playing games, gardening, laughing, knitting, and traveling to the mountains in Potter County. Betty was meticulous about her house and her appearance, and garnered compliments everywhere she journeyed. She had a knack for baking, a proclivity for cheek-pinching, and a resounding zest for life. Loved dearly by her family, she will be sorely missed as the matriarch and "Queen". In her last days, she made certain to remind everyone that, “God is good. Never forget.” Mrs. Peters is survived by two sons, Lanny Peters and wife, Ruth Ann of York and Rick Peters and wife, Brenda of York; seven grandchildren, Annie Gust, Bradley Peters, Brian Peters, Abby Trevino, David Peters, Leah Workinger and Becky Rau; nine great grandchildren, McKenzie Peters, Isaiah Workinger, Espe Trevino, Sam Peters, Elijah Workinger, Joshua Peters, Gabe Trevino, Luke Peters and Zeke Peters; and one sister, Marilyn Davis of Baltimore.
