Betty J. (Bacon) Walker

Betty Jane (Bacon) Walker entered into heaven on December 23, 2013 from York Hospital. While at home, she enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with her family which included two daughters, Patti McCaslin and Donna (Robert) Druck; two grandchildren, Thomas (Missy) Druck and Robin (Steve) Wilson; four beloved great grandchildren, Josh and Ashley Druck and Shelby and Jarrett Wilson. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Ray T. Walker and her son-in-law, Rev. H. Frank McCaslin. Betty was a 1941 graduate of Red Lion High School. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the office of Jake Winters Cigar Factory in Red Lion. Later, she worked in Ruff’s Groceries and was clerk in the Airville Post Office for twenty-five years. She was a former member of the Airville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary, the Airville Fire Police and the Red Lion Band Auxiliary. She was a former member of the St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brogue and a current member of the McKendree United Methodist Church of Airville. The youngest of daughter of Harry and Flora (Blouse) Bacon, she was the last surviving member of her family. Services for Betty will be held at the McKendree United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 28 with visitation from 10-11AM and the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00AM led by her pastor Rev. Gary Daugherty. The committal service will be at the McKendree Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Red Lion has been entrusted with her care. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to McKendree UM Church at 3708 Delta Road, Airville or Airville Volunteer Fire Company at 3567 Delta RD, Airville. The family wishes to thank the Deanie Taylor King Home Services for the dedicated, loving care that they provided for both Ray and Betty in their later years.
