Betty M. Carlton

YORK- Betty M. (Webster) Carlton, a beloved member of her family, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, after a courageous battle, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Steve D. Carlton to whom she was married for 23 years.

Born on October 17, 1951, in Fenton, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Etta E. (Bentley) Webster. Betty was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

Betty’s professional journey was diverse, having dedicated many years to retail in customer service coupled with her equally important role as a homemaker, where she created a loving and nurturing environment for her family. Her strong work ethic and commitment to service were qualities that everyone admired.

In addition to her career, Betty honorably served her country as an OR Tech in the Air Force during the end of the Vietnam War. This chapter of her life was marked by a deep sense of duty and pride, reflecting her commitment to both her family and her nation.

A graduate of high school, Betty's lifelong passion for learning made her an avid reader. She spent countless hours immersed in books, which sparked her imagination and broadened her horizons. Betty also loved baking and cooking, filling her home with delicious aromas and creating cherished family traditions around meals. The outdoors held a special place in her heart, as she appreciated nature and found joy in its beauty. Perhaps most importantly, she cherished her time spent with her grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. Her love for police and hospital shows added a delightful twist to her leisurely hours, engaging her with stories of heroism and compassion.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Carlton of Stewartstown; her son, Charles Myers and his wife Elle of Hickory, NC; her daughter, Stephanie Nace and her husband Keith of York; her step-daughters, Carie Whitaker of Nashville, TN, and Kelly Minor of OK; and her cherished grandchildren: Taylor Myers, Mackenzie Myers, Conner Myers, Nathan Nace, James Nace, and Madelyn Nace, along with her step-grandchildren, Devan and Kayla Whitaker. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers, Jim Webster and his wife Becky, and Patrick Webster; and her sisters, Judy Clairmont and her husband Bill, Ellen Green, Kim Plakiotis, and Reneé Webster and 18 nieces and nephews.
