Betty A. Leighty

Betty A. (Sheetz) Leighty, 85, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at her residence in Chanceford Township. She was the wife of Lamar A. Leighty to whom she was married for 38 years. Betty and Lamar were inseparable, and the love they shared was like no other.


A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00PM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Olewiler and & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Allison R. Duke. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.


Born February 13, 1939 in Red Lion, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Annie (Frey) Sheetz.


She was employed as a machine operator for 30 years with General Dynamics until her retirement in 2001.


An avid gardener, she loved spending time tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed cooking, watching the deer and other wildlife in her backyard and was a dedicated fan at her great grandchildren’s football games. She was truly special and holds such an irreplaceable spot in our hearts. She is going to be tremendously missed by everyone who knew and loved her.


In addition to her husband, Mrs. Leighty is also survived by her son, Randy D. Scott and his wife, Christina of Red Lion; her daughter, Yvonne A. Rittenhouse of Silver Springs, FL; four grandchildren, Sativa Keil and her husband, Shawn, Owien Rittenhouse, Kayla Lockner and her husband, Corey and Cameron Scott; seven great grandchildren, Madison, Payton, Anastasia, Ariana, Mason, Kellan and Finley and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Scott; one granddaughter, Alexandria Rittenhouse; one son-in-law, Mark Rittenhouse and six siblings.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
