Bessie M. (Snyder) Staver

COGAN STATION - Bessie M. (Snyder) Staver, 87, died Thursday, October 08, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Cogan Station on February 02, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Maurice J. and Viola O. (Shaffer) Snyder. On March 31, 1949, Bessie married the late Franklin R. “Frank” Staver and they celebrated 56 years of marriage together until his death on December 25, 2006. Bessie was a graduate of the Williamsport High School Class of 1946. After school, Bessie worked at various places including; the Grit, Weldon Glamorise and Coblers Shoes all of Williamsport. Then she stayed home as a housewife and raised her entire family. She was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Cogan Station. She enjoyed playing scrabble and canasta, watching wildlife in her back yard. Most of all Bessie loved spending time with her great grandchildren and teaching all of her family to love one another in all that they did. Bessie is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law; Zane R. “Randy” and Tiffany Staver of Cogan Station, Blaine L. Staver of Cogan Station, Bryon J. Staver and significant other Brandon Harlan of Cogan Station, Jason E. Staver and significant other Natasha L. Atkinson of Cogan Station and Betty J. Staver-Fiester of Cogan Station, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister; Vonda V. Snyder-Roles of Cogan Station and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Bessie was preceded in death by one son; Franklin R. Staver, Jr. and one brother; Donald C. Snyder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 1877 St. Michaels Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728. A public viewing will be held 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport followed by the funeral at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Ashley Rossie officiating. Graveside services for Bessie will take place 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 1877 St. Michaels Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728.
