Bessie L. (Miller) Dennis

WILKES-BARRE-Bessie L. Dennis, 85, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday evening in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Margaret (Eveland) Miller. She attended Meyers High School. Mrs. Dennis was a member of the former First Reformed Church where she was a Youth Group leader, and a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the church where she was a leader for the Deacons and sang in the choir, having earned both the silver and gold cross for participation. She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was a homemaker all of her life and truly enjoyed baking. In her most recent years, she spent many hours baking cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Theodore B. "Ted" Dennis, Sr.; a daughter, Linda Gower and her husband Edward, Rhinebeck, NY; a son, Theodore B. Dennis, Jr. and his wife, Ellen, Larksville; grandchildren, Edward Gower, Jennifer White, Allison Sulinsky, Sara Gower, Julie Dennis, Theodore J. Dennis, Rebecca Dennis; great-grandchildren, Jonathan White, Christopher White, Kaleigh White, Lauren Gower, Matthew Gower, Emma Gower, Megan Sulinsky, Andrew Sulinsky; brothers, George Miller, Centermoreland; Wesley Miller, Denver, CO; Montie Miller, Throop; sisters, Margaret Martin, Hanover Twp., Audrey Curry, Toms River, NJ; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Donald Miller, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Doctor Robert M. Zanicky officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Anyone wishing to attend is asked to go directly to the church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
