Bertha I. (Stein) Collins

Red Lion—Bertha I. (Stein) Collins, 98, passed away, Friday, June 25, 2010 at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frederick A. Collins. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ-Freysville, 1625 Windsor Rd, Red Lion, with her pastor, the Rev. Ron Heagy, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the church. Burial will be held in Freysville Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born March 31, 1912 in Brownton, she was a daughter of the late Jacob H. and Jennie (Baum) Stein. She was employed as a cigar stemmer for 50 plus years at various cigar factories in Red Lion and Yoe. She was a life member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ -Freysville and enjoyed cooking, word puzzles, playing bingo and loved spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. Mrs. Collins is survived by one daughter, Delores E. Chronister and husband Dale of Red Lion, two granddaughters, Kim Chronister and fiance' Kevin Wallen, Kris Inners and great grandchildren, Josh and Kaci Inners, a special friend from Australia, Heather Fairwesther, Shannon and Tyler Wallen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L. Collins, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ-Freysville, 1625 Windsor Rd, Red Lion, Pa 17356 or Pleasant Acres Ladies Auxiliary, 118 Pleasant Acres Dr, York, Pa 17402.
