Bertha E. (Mcgowan) Lewis

GLENVILLE - Bertha E. (McGowan) Lewis, 69, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at her residence. She was the wife of Richard K. Lewis, Sr. to whom she was married for 52 years. Tributes services and burial will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 6, 1939 in Baltimore County a daughter of the late Herbert M. and Rosie E. (Shoemaker) McGowan, she had worked at the former Folmer's Grocery in Glenville. Mrs. Lewis enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing Scrabble. She was particularly fond of attending flea markets. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lewis is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. and husband Joseph A. Noel of East Berlin; a son, Richard K. Lewis, Jr. and wife Christina of Mt. Wolf; five grandchildren, Richard K. Lewis, III, Alexander T., Monica, and Rebecca Lewis, and Janet Noel; two great grandchildren, Isaac and Jona Lewis; a brother, Mick McGowan of Baltimore; and four sisters, Louise Myers of Felton, June McGowan of Shrewsbury, Fern Partin of Dundalk, MD, and Darla White of Martins, MD.
